RECESS All Week Long
If you’ve ever wondered what Etsy felt like in real life, I hope you made a point to come through the Combine last month. We recently hosted RECESS, a collective of artists and makers dedicated to supporting growth in Toronto's independent arts and culture scene. Not only were we treated to a week’s worth of creative programming (including a TAROT IMPRESSIONS: LINO BLOCK PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP), but the festivities were capped off with the RECESS Market complete with artisan ice cream and bespoke tattoos.
The RECESS Market consisted of 16 mostly BIPOC local artists, all of whom were given the space to showcase their work and connect with the creative community. Attendees exploring the market floor were treated to one-of-a-kind DIY art pieces all conceived and produced by local makers. From hand-painted prints and miniatures to delicious treats and even live tattoos, the RECESS community really showed out. Beyond the artist’s tables, games, arts & crafts, and even a speed typing competition was set up for those up to the challenge.
